Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links Eye Shadow in Onyx: EOTD, Review and Swatch

Hey everyone!
Am back with another Revlon post!
This time it is the much hyped eyeshadow.

I was on a lookout for a affordable matte brown or black eyeshadow. But they all came in palettes. Since I don't know much about which palettes to choose, I gave this a try.
Lets start with the review.

My Review:

The packaging is so cute, tiny and travel friendly! It will even fit into a coin purse!! I got the shade Onyx(300) which is a dark grey with silver sparkles. Of all the shades on display, only one shadow was matte. It was a plum shade which I already have. The rest all are glittery. Amongst them, Onyx is the darkest shade and the one which I got. I have put up a pic of size comparison to give you an idea of how small it actually is.

The pigmentation is quite nice actually. Surprisingly, there is no fallout. The first time I applied it, I applied it without any base and it settled into the tiny pores around my eyes. It looked very bad. The second time I applied it with Lakme foundation as a base and it lasted 4 hours on me after which it faded unevenly.

I made a cut crease type of a eye makeup with this one and it looked pretty nice. The hand swatch shows its true color. The eye makeup pictures shows it a little lighter than it actually is.

Considering I have very oily lids, this particular shade performed well in my opinion. I have read review on other blogs of some shades and they claimed that it wasn't that impressive. So I don't know about other shades, but this one is quite good for the price.

There was this other shade in Khaki which I was keen on getting . So I may buy that the next time round.

Pros:
  • Decent pigmentation
  • Staying power is good
  • Easily available
  • Affordable
  • Travel friendly
Cons:
  • Fades unevenly
  • Requires a base for even application and longer wear.

Conclusion: An affordable eye shadow with decent pigmentation and wear time. Onyx is a dark grey shade with silver sparkles. Recommended if you have little knowledge about eye shadow like me and don't want to spend a bomb on eye shadows.

My Rating: 4/5
